- Measure the hole for the sink: Before you begin the installation process, you need to measure the hole where the sink will be placed. To do this, turn the sink upside down and trace the outline directly on the countertop with a pencil. It's important to note that the outline should be slightly larger than the sink's opening. However, to ensure a secure fit, make a second outline about 1/2 inch smaller than the original for the hole.
